Frontend Developer - Early Career

Do you want to help us spread the film love? Cineville is looking for a Frontend Developer in their early career to join the team.

Full-time / Part-time · Amsterdam

Who we are

Hi, we’re Cineville – a fast-growing film club for everyone who wants to see more. With one card, our members can discover great films in more than 250 cinemas across the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria and Sweden. Almost 160,000 Cineville members now make over two million cinema visits a year.

We’re currently investing in strengthening our technical foundations – reducing tech debt and improving performance, security and reliability – so that Cineville can continue to grow. That work makes it easier and faster to build new products and features in the future.

To support this next phase, we are looking for a Frontend Developer in their early career to join and strengthen our Development Team. Your work will directly support affiliated theaters, international Cineville teams, and most of all: our members. You will be part of our Development team, which right now includes three backend developers, two frontend developers, a product owner, and a data analyst, supported by the Director of Software and Services.

What you’ll be doing

  • Building and maintaining several websites and applications, both public facing and for internal use.

  • Contribute to the design process with the team.

  • Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the development process.

  • Ensure that all code is well-documented, safe, optimized for performance and follows best practices.

  • Work closely with the other developers, the product owner, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and ensure that your implementations meet their expectations.

  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to other team members.

What you’ll be working on

Cineville’s success is powered by our own software ecosystem, built around two main systems: Cineville Digital and CultureKit.

Cineville Digital consists of our public-facing website, mobile app, and internal Content Management System (CMS). The website and app give our members access to information about Cineville, affiliated cinemas, films, festivals, reviews, articles, and their digital Cineville pass. Behind the scenes, the CMS enables our content team to efficiently create, manage, and publish all of this – from film articles to cinema details – using structured templates that serve both the website and app.

CultureKit is the core subscription and membership platform for Cineville, Podiumpas, and Nonstop Kino – the heart of Cineville’s software infrastructure. Built as a set of microservices on Google Cloud Platform, it is developed, managed, and hosted by the Cineville tech team and powers everything from memberships and billing to integrations with cinemas.
